10 YEARS AGO (2004)

Ticonderoga’s Drew Trombley pitches a one-hitter with 8 strikeouts and 3 successful pick-offs in a 2-0 win over Lake Placid. Chris Barney gives up only 3 hits while whiffing 10 in a losing cause.

Kayla Wallenhorst strikes out 8 of the first 9 batters on her way to a one-hitter in Plattsburgh High’s 12-0 victory over Saranac. 

Cam Arterbury nets 19 points while Kris Gibbs-Smith and Marlin Johnson chip in with 16 apiece to lead Fesette Realty past defending champion Lum’s Restaurant 103-92 in the title game of the 37th PBA Basketball Tournament.

Crown Point’s Fallon Woods fires a no-hitter in the first game and also gets the victory in the second as the Panthers sweep Elizabethtown-Lewis in softball.

Sophie McClelland claims 4 firsts with Megan McClelland, Mallory Morris, Anna Luderowski and Leslie Podmore picking up 3 apiece to lead EKMW to a 78-53 win over Saranac in a battle of unbeatens in CVAC girls’ track & field.

Seton Catholic’s Dan Tedford tosses a one-hitter with 8 strikeouts and no walks in a 6-0 triumph over Northeastern Clinton.

20 YEARS AGO (1994)

Peru’s Dan Marbut and Ryon O’Connell combine to no-hit Northeastern Clinton with 12 strikeouts and two walks.

Plattsburgh High’s Tim Collins, Matt Meyers and Matt Loughan combine on a no-hitter, but lose to Peru, 4-3.

Malone’s Jen Wiseman wins the 800 meters in 2:20.57 for Plattsburgh State at the SUNYAC Track & Field Championships. Teammate Tom Ouellette sets a conference record of 9:17.88 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

25 YEARS AGO (1989)

Plattsburgh High’s Tom Maston pitches a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts and Jason Miller goes 3-for-3 in the victory.

Malone’s Chad Lawrence places fifth in the schoolboy 1,500 meters at the Penn Relays with a time of 3:58.14.

Marci Kazlo collects 4 hits and Toni Patnode strikes out 13 in Crown Point’s win over Schroon Lake.
