25 YEARS AGO (1988)

Everette Williams’ clutch play leads PHS past previously unbeaten Ticonderoga 61-58. Mark Haubner and Rob deGrandpre each net 15 for the Hornets while Dan Brod scores 19 and Will Fahey, 15, for the Sentinels.

Northern Adirondack senior Debbie Patnode is chosen to be a U.S. Soccer Ambassador to play in Europe during the summer of 1988.

Faith Miller scores 22 points and Jessica Covey comes up with 2 big blocks as Beekmantown snaps St. John’s unbeaten streak at 10 with a 50-46 victory.

John Henrick scores the lone Plattsburgh State goal as the Cardinals fall to top-ranked University of Maine before 6,800 at the Portland Civic Center.

Pete Carson scores 26 points to lead unbeaten Willsboro to a 77-48 win over Crown Point. Dan Woods nets 15 for the Panthers.

30 YEARS AGO (1983)

North Country Community College’s Tim Preston (16 goals, 24 assists) and Ray Guay (11-28) lead NJCAA hockey in scoring.

Todd Pierce scores 26 points and Willy Murphy, 14, as Willsboro rallies from 12 down in the fourth quarter to upset Dannemora 63-61.

Former Beekmantown standout Garry Danussi is honored as an outstanding 3-year lineman for the Norwich University football team.

Belinda Cross scores 18 points and Lisa Boisseau, 17, as unbeaten AuSable Valley tops Moriah 60-50. Becki Wykes nets 14 for the Vikings.

Tina Pellerin scores 25 points and grabs 15 rebounds, Sandy Luff adds 23 points and Michelle Caron, 17, as North Country Community College extends its season-long winning streak to 17 games, beating St. Joseph’s (Vt.) 88-55.

40 YEARS AGO (1973)

Steve Farrell scores 18 points and grabs 11 rebounds as Plattsburgh High rallies from 20 points down to defeat Peru 66-64, in triple overtime. Mark Garrow and Russ Keller chip in with 12 points apiece for the Hornets. Wally Vanderhoff leads Peru with 23 points.

Beekmantown’s Dave Daniels extends his dual-meet wrestling winning streak to 21 matches and improves to 60-5-1.
