Peru’s Mike Oertel, Matt St. Clair, Matt Bezio and Nick Moore earn First Team honors on the All-State football team while Tupper Lake’s Diavalo Fletcher, AuSable Valley’s Kelly Gordon, Ticonderoga’s Jason Fish and Seton Catholic’s Joel Siskavich also make the state team.

Gary Ryan records his 300th coaching victory as Seton Catholic defeats Northeastern Clinton 9-0 in boys’ hockey.

Tom Walters pours in 37 points and Jeremy Door, 20, to lead Crown Point to an 84-71 victory over Schroon Lake. Josh Filler nets 23 for the Wildcats.

Erich Stewart tallies 26 points to lead Lake Placid over AuSable Valley 55-51. Isaac Dirolf leads the Patriots with 15.

Krysta Cutting contributes 33 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks to Elizabethtown-Lewis’s 74-40 win over Crown Point. Erin Curley scores 16 for the Panthers.

Ginny Jenks fires in 25 points to spark Schroon Lake to a 63-58 win over Chazy. Bethany Friedrich hits for 18 for Chazy.

Craig Reyell scores 3 goals and adds an assist in Beekmantown’s 8-1 win over Northeastern Clinton.

Derrick Pierce and Ben Reynolds each drop in 19 points to lead Willsboro to a 58-50 win over Westport.

Mike Fernandez scores 20 points, Adam Slattery chips in with 16 and Matt Brassard contributes 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead Moriah to a 67-52 win over Saranac.

Mike Oertel makes one foul shot and Adam Prue, two, in the last 20 seconds to give Peru a 57-54 win over Moriah.

Dylan Raville gets his first goal in overtime to lift PHS to a 6-5 come-from-behind win over Kenmore East.

20 YEARS AGO (1993)

Alicia LaValley scores 20 points as Plattsburgh State women’s basketball coach Phoebe Sturm registers her first victory over SUNY Albany, 67-63.

Ticonderoga linebacker Jeremy Hall and Peru tight end Steve St. Clair are named to the First Team All-State in football.

Steve Moore and Len Pereira each pick up four points and Mike Mondello stars in goal as Plattsburgh State thumps RIT 9-2.
