Garrow fun/walk on Saturday

CHAZY — The costumed annual Frankie L. Garrow IV 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, June 1, with registration at 9 a.m. The one-mile kids’ fun run will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the cost is $5 to pre-register and $10 on the event day. The 5K run/walk will start at 10 a.m., with pre-registration at $10 and $15 on event day.

The event will be held at the Chazy Rec Park. There will be several family games and raffles on what is a family-fun day. Those who wear costumes will be eligible to win prizes. Wearing a costume is not mandatory. Everyone who takes part will receive a gift and tournament t-shirts will be on sale to help raise funds for the Garrow Scholarship, given each year to a Chazy boy and girl senior.

Co-ed softball tourney June 8-9

WEST PLATTSBURGH — The West Plattsburgh American Legion will be holding a co-ed softball tournament June 8-9.

The tournament will benefit women and children with cancer, and all proceeds will go to the Guardian of the Ribbon Northern New York Chapter.

Entry fee is $125 per team and the last day to enter is June 5. Trophies will be awarded.

Biggest Loser RunWalk June 9

PLATTSBURGH — The Biggest Loser RunWalk will take place June 9 at 8 a.m.

Tara Costa from the Biggest Loser Season 7 will be participating in the event.

The course winds through downtown Plattsburgh and along the Saranac River, which flows into Cumberland Bay.

There will also be a Kids Fit One Mile Fun Run for kids ages 4-12, hosted by Kids Fit Foundation.

Kehn records hole-in-one at Bluff Point

PLATTSBURGH — Ed Kehn hit a hole-in-one on the ninth hole at Bluff Point Golf Resort.

Kehn used a pitching wedge to record the ace, which was the first of his career.

Kevin Kehoe and Pete Pederson were witnesses to the shot.

Disc golf tourney set for June 8

CADYVILLE — The Town of Plattsburgh Parks & Recreation Department and the Adirondack Disc Golf Association are cosponsoring a Teens & Tweens Disc Golf Tournament June 8.

The tournament will be held at the Cadyville Disc Golf Park on Goddeau Road. There will be a beginner’s clinic at 4 p.m., players meeting at 4:45 p.m., with the actual tournament starting at 5 p.m.

The disc golf tournament is free of charge for all youth in grades 6-12. The tournament is for beginners and experienced disc golf players. The first 20 participants will receive a free t-shirt.

Register by June 6 with the Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department by calling 562-6860.

Golf tournament slated for June 14

PERU — The 27th Annual Golf Tournanment Fundraiser will take place at Adirondack Golf and Country Club June 14, starting at 10 a.m.

Butcher Block golf tourney June 24

PLATTSBURGH — The 32nd-Annual Butcher Block Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, June 24 at Bluff Point. Applications are available at the restaurant.

Dirty Dog Mud Run to be held at Titus Mountain

MALONE — The ever-growing sport of mud running and adventure racing has made its way to Malone. Champlain Valley Search and Rescue Canine Unit plans to host the first Dirty Dog Mud Run fundraiser at Titus Mountain Family Ski Center. The run consists of 20 obstacles spread out over seven kilometers up and down the lower mountain.

Champlain Valley Search and Rescue Canine Unit, or CVK9, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) K9 search and rescue team. They are specialized with the working dog and have support personnel to search for and rescue lost or missing persons. CVK9 also has an active technical rescue component to assist in land and water searches as well as natural or man-made disasters.

The Dirty Dog Mud run is going to be held on October at Titus Mountain. This event is rain, shine, or sleet and registration is open now. Racers can compete individually or in teams. PSU women’s soccer team to hold beach soccer tourney

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State women’s soccer team, on Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and August 4, will be hosting its second-annual Beach Soccer Tournament at the Plattsburgh City Beach.

The co-ed tournament will feature four divisions, including an open adult division for players 20 and older, an under-20 division, a teen division for players ages 13 to 15, and a pre-teen division for players 12 and under. The open adult division and the under-20 division will compete on Saturday, while the teen and pre-teen divisions will play on Sunday.

Teams will be comprised of five members each and at least one female player must be on the field at all times. The registration fee for the tournament is $100 per team. Duniho, Rasco top bicycle time trials

POINT AU ROCHE — Course record holder Kevin Duniho led a group of 13 bicyclists with a time of 12 minutes, 26 seconds over the 10-mile Point au Roche course. Erin Rasco led the women with time of 27:45 on a windy night.

The time trials are free and open to novice and experienced riders. Sign up after 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings at the Point au Roche firehouse; first rider starts at 6 p.m.
