Saranac reaches semifinals



SARANAC — Kelli Jock, Kim Plumadore and Kayla Nason led the way Thursday night as Saranac recorded a 3-0 win over Saranac Lake in the Section VII Class B volleyball quarterfinals.

The Chiefs, who improved to 12-5 overall, won by game scores of 25-20, 25-12, 25-18.

Jock finished with eight kills, one dig and two blocks, while Plumadore added 18 points, one kill, five assists, four aces and nine digs, and Nason, four points, nine kills, one ace and seven digs.

"Jock had a strong match at the net for us," said Saranac head coach Joanne Johnson. "She also had two timely blocks that helped us in the first game.

"Plumadore had some strong serving and the rest of the team did a good job putting the ball away. And, Nason was steady as usual."

The Red Storm were led by Heleni Kuma with three points, 10 kills, two blocks and four digs, while Erin Miner added 10 points, two kills, two assists and two digs.

The winner of the Peru vs. Plattsburgh High School match will be the Chiefs' opponent in the semifinals.
