PLATTSBURGH — Kayla Rabideau hit the conference sprinting five years ago and didn't slow down until she had established herself as one of the most prolific scorers in the history of Section VII soccer.

The Northern Adirondack star closed out a brilliant career in 2009 by earning Most Valuable Player honors in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls' soccer. The honor was well deserved for the four-time CVAC all-star and two-time state star.

Rabideau tallied 25 goals and added four assists for 54 points her senior year. She wound up with 102 goals, 26 assists and 230 points for her career.

The 102 goals makes her the seventh girls in Section VII annals to go over 100 for a career and ties her second with Tupper Lake's Noelle Short in the CVAC record books. Seton Catholic great Kelli O'Connell capped her career with 124 goals and 285 points.

Rabideau's 230 points are ninth best in section history and third most in the CVAC books.

The NAC standout, known for her quickness, skills and tireless play, had 15 goals as an eighth-grader, 19 as a freshman, 16 her sophomore season and 27 her junior year.

Beekmantown and Lake Placid were the only CVAC teams to put two girls on the All-Conference Team. Lauren Gonyea, who led the conference in points with 63 on 27 goals, 9 assists, and Megan Rivers (8-6-22) made it from Beekmantown while Chelsea Preston (10-4-24) and Molly Ploof (4-4-12) earn all-CVAC status from Lake Placid.

Sarah Carter closed out her career at Plattsburgh High as the all-time leading scorer with 71 goals, 26 assists for 168 points. The three-time CVAC all-star had 25 goals last season.

Seton Catholic's Rhea Breyette (11-5-27), Saranac's Megan Bowman (12-11-35), Amanda Hamilton (9-3-21) of AuSable Valley, Mary Elizabeth Franke (7-7-21) of Northeastern Clinton, and Peru's Erin Sullivan (1-2-4) completed the all-conference team.
