Ticonderoga breezes in track

— LAKE PLACID -- Elsie Phillips claimed four firsts and Dustin Scott won the triple jump with a personal-best Thursday to highlight Ticonderoga's sweep of Lake Placid in a season-opening Champlain Valley Athletic Conference track & field meet.
Phillips swept the dashes, added a first in the sprint relay and captured the long jump to lead the Ticonderoga girls to an 80-17 victory. Emily Palmer was a triple winner while Ainsley MacAlpine, Rachel Ward and Rianna Millington doubled.
Heidi Baumbach won the 1,500-meter run for Lake Placid.
Scott, who also won the high jump and ran with the winning sprint relay team, went 39 feet, 6.5 inches for a new personal-best in the triple jump.
Brandon Carberry, Jonathan Granger, and Dustin LaFrance also earned three firsts apiece for Ti while Lee Berube, Jay Berube and Jesse Clark were double winners.
David Balestrini swept the hurdles for Lake Placid and Patrick Stewart won the long jump.
