PERU -- The Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Division I girls' softball race got even more interesting Friday.
Peru scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally and knock off division-leading Saranac. 13-11.
The outcome left the Chiefs at 9-3 and tied for first with Northeastern Clinton, with Beekmantown a game back.
The game was tied at 9-all entering the top of the sixth when Saranac went up by two when Carissa Fournia singled and Jessica Myers hit a two-run homer.
But, in the bottom of the sixth, the Indians (6-6) took advantage of four Saranac errors and Connie Mandeville's two-run single capped a four-run uprising.
Winning pitcher Morgan Flynn and Kelly Kezar led Peru with two hits each, while Jessica Ewald and Keely Dew hit solo home runs.
Carissa Fournia led the Chiefs with three hits, including a triple, while Kaleigh Rasco and Myers followed with two hits each. Amber O'Connell took the loss in relief.

TICONDEROGA -- Ashley St. Andrews, a call-up from the junior varsity team, delivered a big two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally the unbeaten Sentinels (12-0) to a victory over upset-minded Northern Adirondack.
With the win, Ticonderoga clinched at least a tie for the Division II championship with four games still remaining to be played.
The Bobcats (7-5) took advantage of some early Ticonderoga errors to score three runs in the top of the first inning.
The Sentinels got two of the runs back in the second, but still trailed by a run entering the sixth.
That's when Ticonderoga tallied three times, with the key hit being St. Andrews' three-bagger.
Maranda Wells also had a triple and two RBI for the Sentinels, while Morgan Jordan rapped out two singles. Julie Thompson and Katie Karkoski, who picked up the win in relief, combined for 11 strikeouts.
Brittany Charland was the losing pitcher. Four players had a hit each for NAC.

CHAMPLAIN -- Winning pitcher Chelsea Barcomb struck out two, did not walk anyone and tossed a three-hitter as Northeastern Clinton (9-3) moved into a tie for first in Division I.
Ashley Lamberton led the Cougars with three hits, while Magan Bechard added two hits and three runs scored.
NCCS, trailing 2-1, took advantage of PHS miscues in the fifth to score five runs.
Jen Menard fanned nine, walked two and surrendered six hits in taking the loss. Hannah Emery accounted for two of the three PHS hits -- a double and single.

CLINTONVILLE -- Two freshmen helped lift the Patriots past the Knights in eight innings
Kayla Taylor knocked in Jena Finnegan for the game winning run in the bottom of the eighth to give the Patriots a 5-4 victory.
Finnegan led off the inning with a double and then stole third before being driven home by Taylor.
AuSable led 3-2 after three innings, but Seton Catholic tied the game in the top of the fifth. The Patriots retook the lead, 4-3, at the end of the sixth, on a home run from Finnegan. But the Knights tied the game again in the top of the seventh.
Taylor finished with two hits for AuSable Valley (4-8).
Samantha Mulcahy had two hits for the Knights, and Kara Stark had two hits.
"Seton Catholic's defense played well today," AuSable Valley coach Jim Caron said. "Ariel Masten played a great game for Seton at short stop."
Ashlee Fairchild took the loss for the Knights (1-11), striking out two and walking one.
Whitney Vincent picked up the win, striking out 13 and walking two.

LAKE PLACID -- Chelsea Cutting hit a grand slam to lead the Vikings past the Blue Bombers.
Liz Wallace had a double and Jen Tesar had a triple for Moriah. Kaylee Sprague pitched a complete game, striking out six and walking one for the Vikings.
Alex Caudill, Jenna McGreevy and Ashley Riley each had two hits for Lake Placid. Julia Appleton took the loss for the Blue Bombers.

BEEKMANTOWN -- Kassandra Costin accounted for three hits and five RBI as the Eagles (8-4) stayed in the thick of the Division I title hunt.
Winning pitcher Kayleigh McGovern struck out eight and tossed a three-hit shutout. Melissa Mercado took the loss for the Red Storm.
Morgan Kowalowski, Rian Jock, Sam Warner and Courtney Bouyea contributed two hits each for Beekmantown, with Kowalowski getting a double. The Eagles finished with 15 hits in all.
Three players had a single apiece for the Red Storm.

TICONDEROGA -- Ticonderoga pushed across two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Thursday and then held off the Eagles.
Katie Karkoski struck out four, walked two and allowed four hits in going the distance for the Sentinels (11-0). Losing pitcher Kayleigh McGovern fanned eight, walked three and allowed five hits.
Ti held a 1-0 lead before the Eagles scored two times in the fifth inning. Kelley Lucia doubled in a run and a second runner came across to scored on the back end of a double steal.
Then, in the home half of the sixth, the Sentinels loaded the bases when Anna Besson walked, Arielle Vilardo reached on a fielder's choice and Julie Thompson walked.
Maranda Wells hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game. Then, Vilardo stole home on a throw back to the pitcher to score the game-winning run.
Nobody on either team had two hits in the game.

PORT HENRY -- Liz Wallace's single drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Vikings (7-4) edged the Hornets.
Moriah held a 3-0 lead until PHS rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh to tie it on hits by Caitlynn Hecox, Jonna Peryer, Jen Menard and Ashley Rebideau.
The Vikings then loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth when Wallace delivered the game-winner.
Winning pitcher Kaylee Sprague struck out eight, walked one and allowed eight hits. Losing hurler Menard fanned five, walked one and surrendered 11 hits.
Courtney Waldron swung the big bat for the Vikings with three hits, including two triples. Kaycee Kolodzey and Wallace added two hits apiece.
