SARANAC -- Amber O'Connell struck out two, didn't walk anyone and tossed a three-hit shutout to lead Saranac to a 13-0 win over Moriah in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference softball action Wednesday.

Saranac, 9-2 in league play, scored four runs in the third and six more in the fourth off losing pitcher Kaylee Sprague, who struck out 12, walked three and surrendered 15 hits.

"She would either strike us out or we would hit the ball where they weren't," said Saranac head coach Frank Darrah. "We broke out of our funk today."

Kayla Nason led the way offensively for the Chiefs by going 4-for-4, with two RBI.

Nicole Vann added three hits and two RBI for Saranac, while Danielle Fournia contributed two hits and three RBI, Amber Parliament two hits and two RBI, and Kaleigh Rasco, two hits and a RBI.

The Vikings had three players account for a single each.

CHAMPLAIN -- Ayisha Loya went 3-for-3 to lead a 15-hit attack that carried Northeastern Clinton (8-3, 8-3) to the victory over visiting AuSable Valley (3-8, 3-8).

Magan Bechard, Mara Faiviae, Danielle Tierney, Nichole Smith and Lorrielle Bombardier all had two hits for the Cougars.

Chelsea Barcomb, who allowed two hits over four innings, and Taylor Kelsey combined for a four-hitter.
