Lake Placid wins wild one
SARANAC LAKE -- Saranac Lake led for the first three innings Tuesday, but a pitching adjustment threw the Red Storm off speed and Lake Placid rallied for a 26-20 victory in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference softball.
"The change in the pitchers really knocked the girls out of whack," Saranac Lake head coach Melinda Fink said. "They went to a slower thrower and we just couldn't catch up."
The Blue Bombers did catch up, though, and fast as they scored 20 runs over the last three innings.
Ashley Riley, and Alexis Nichols each had two singles and a double for Lake Placid, and Molly Ploof added two singles.
Oliva Glancs, Lauren Burgess and Jenna DeMarco each had a double for Saranac Lake. DeMarco also had a triple on the day.
Julia Appleton got the victory in relief for Lake Placid (4-8, 3-8).
Maegan Meade and Samantha Fazioli each had three hits and Emily Doyle and Harley Wilson, two, for the Storm (0-11, 0-11)
