Bobcats escape with victory

LAKE PLACID -- John Hicks rapped three hits, including a double and triple, and Tyler Mesec struck out the final two batters with the tying run on second base as Northern Adriondack held on for a 9-8 triumph over Lake Placid Tuesday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball.
Trailing by five, Lake Placid tallied four times in the bottom of the seventh to make it interesting. With one out, James Kordziel drilled a two-run triple to cut the NAC lead to 9-6. After Dave Jones walked, Brody Perkins singled home Kordziel home with Jones moving to third. After a failed pick-off attempt allowed Jones to score and Perkins to move to second, Mesec struck out the final two batters to nail down the victory.
Ryan Harris and Jean Luc Fortin each had three hits and an RBI for the Bobcats (3-8, 3-7). One of Harris' hits was a double. Steven Trudeau had two hits for NAC.
Kordziel, who suffered the mound loss, was the leading hitter the for Blue Bombers (2-7), with a two-run double and a two-run triple on the day. Skyler Comins and Tim Reid both had two hits for Lake Placid.

BEEKMANTOWN -- Gino Blando's two-run single highlighted a five-run fifth inning to lead Plattsburgh to a win over Beekmantown.
Trailing 3-1, the Hornets (7-2, 7-2) used a pair of walks from losing pitcher Andrew Price and a pair of defensive miscues by the Eagles (6-6, 5-5) to set the stage for Blando's big hit.
"We got outplayed in every aspect of the game today," Beekmantown coach Jim Knight said. "We made a couple of errors that hurt us. They played a better baseball game than we did."
Winning pitcher Brandon Hatch scattered five hits and struck out three in hurling the complete game for the Hornets.
Frank Buksa had the big day at the plate driving in all three of Beekmantown's runs with two hits, including a two-run homer in the third.
Blando and Patrick Shaughnessy had two hits apiece for the Hornets.

Peru 14, Saranac Lake 6
PERU -- Aaron Tenbuuren went the distance, striking out 10 and walking two, as the Indians (4-6, 4-6) defeated the Red Storm.
Ryan Bishop had two hits, including a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth, for Peru. Andrew McCormick and Alec Currier each had a double and single, and Will Flyrn, Rob Holdridge and Matt Leta had two singles each for the Indians.
Four Saranac Lake pitchers combined for seven walks on the day.
Nick Fortune and Travis Defuria each had a double and two singles for the Red Storm (2-8, 2-8).
Peru hosts Massena today at 4 p.m.

PLATTSBURGH -- Tyler Bush took advantage of the friendly confines of Lefty Wilson Field as the heavy-hitting junior had four hits, including a pair of home runs, and drove in six runs to lead Ticonderoga past Seton Catholic.
Trailing 3-0 in the third inning, Bush keyed a five-run uprising by the Sentinels (9-1, 9-1) with an RBI double. Krys Ross and Anthony Barnao added RBI singles in the stanza, while Steven Lenhart delivered a sacrifice fly.
Bush put the game out of reach with a two-run homer in the fifth inning and a three-run shot in the sixth.
Seton took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run double by Tanner Lecuyer and an RBI single from Adam Seymour.
Lenhart and Matt Carr contributed two hits apiece for the Sentinels (9-1, 9-1). Matt Streeter earned the victory with seven strikeouts over five innings.
Lecuyer paced the Knights (5-5, 5-5) with a pair of doubles, while losing pitcher Bill Bower had two hits, including a double.

ROUSES POINT -- Jordan Keysor threw eight strikeouts and didn't issue a walk to help the Chiefs (9-3, 8-2) beat the Cougars.
Mark Eggleston had three hits, and Keysor added two.
Josh Chapman and Cory Davison both had a pair of hits for Northeastern Clinton (5-5, 5-5). Ryan Armstrong struck out five and walked one.

CLINTONVILLE -- Eric Rock had three hits, including an inside-the park home run, and 5 RBI to spark the Patriots.
John Michael Bresette also had a big day with three hits, three runs score and two RBI for AuSable Valley (6-4, 6-4).
Tim Martin had three hits and two RBI, Tom Wheelock had a two-run homer, and Tyler Trombley and Donny Tesar had doubles for Moriah (4-8, 3-7).
