Bobcats escape with victory
LAKE PLACID -- John Hicks rapped three hits, including a double and triple, and Tyler Mesec struck out the final two batters with the tying run on second base as Northern Adriondack held on for a 9-8 triumph over Lake Placid Tuesday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball.
Trailing by five, Lake Placid tallied four times in the bottom of the seventh to make it interesting. With one out, James Kordziel drilled a two-run triple to cut the NAC lead to 9-6. After Dave Jones walked, Brody Perkins singled home Kordziel home with Jones moving to third. After a failed pick-off attempt allowed Jones to score and Perkins to move to second, Mesec struck out the final two batters to nail down the victory.

Kordziel, who suffered the mound loss, was the leading hitter the for Blue Bombers (2-7), with a two-run double and a two-run triple on the day. Skyler Comins and Tim Reid both had two hits for Lake Placid.

BEEKMANTOWN -- Gino Blando's two-run single highlighted a five-run fifth inning to lead Plattsburgh to a win over Beekmantown.
Trailing 3-1, the Hornets (7-2, 7-2) used a pair of walks from losing pitcher Andrew Price and a pair of defensive miscues by the Eagles (6-6, 5-5) to set the stage for Blando's big hit.
"We got outplayed in every aspect of the game today," Beekmantown coach Jim Knight said. "We made a couple of errors that hurt us. They played a better baseball game than we did."
Winning pitcher Brandon Hatch scattered five hits and struck out three in hurling the complete game for the Hornets.
Frank Buksa had the big day at the plate driving in all three of Beekmantown's runs with two hits, including a two-run homer in the third.
Blando and Patrick Shaughnessy had two hits apiece for the Hornets.
