Then, in the seventh, Nate Stanton and Zach Lareau rapped singles, setting up Tedford’s two-out, RBI single.

Stanton allowed five hits and struck out five in going the distance for the pitching win. Losing pitcher Jack Tolosky also went the route as he struck out two and surrendered 13 hits.

“Nate (Stanton) pitched real well and Tolosky battled,” Saranac coach Frank Trudeau said. “Whenever we play Plattsburgh, it’s a battle.

“We were able to get double digits in hits, which was nice to see, and I was proud of the way we played defensively.”

Caleb Keysor, Erickson, Tedford, Jeremy Barber and Stanton accounted for two hits each for Saranac.

Tolosky had two of the five PHS hits and Shawn Courson added a double.

The Hornets trailed, 3-2, when they scored two in the fourth inning.

ELLENBURG — Ryan Meyer struck out nine and failed to surrender a walk in six innings on the mound, helping the Blue Bombers to a four-run win.

The junior helped his own cause at the plate, hitting two singles, registering an RBI and scoring a run.

“Defensively, I feel like we played our best game of the whole season,” Bobcats coach Jeph Doorey said. “We were relaxed and played far batter. Lake Placid has some good, strong pitchers. They throw hard and are well-coached.”
