Gadway 12th in Federation meet

WAPPINGERS FALLS — Plattsburgh High’s Jeriqho Gadway, on the heels of his NYSPHAA victory the week before, finished 12th Saturday in the 40th-Annual New York State Federation Cross Country Championships at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls.

The federation race combines the associations of the NYSPHSAA, CHSAA and CHSAA Upstate, PSAL and AIS.

Gadway covered the challenging 5,000-meter course in 16 minutes, 13 seconds to lead the area contingent.

Evan Page of Seton Catholic finished 100th in a time of 17:24 while Saranac’s Zach Lepage came in 163rd in 18:00.

Brian Cook of Pearl River was the overall winner in a time of 15:45. There were 248 finishers in the boys’ race. Liverpool was the team champion with 75 points.

On the girls’ side Ashley Leta of Seton Catholic was 129th in a time of 20:55 and teammate Margaret Champagne finished 157th in at time of 21:28.

Jessica Lawson of Corning was the overall winner in 18:16. There were 255 finishers.

John Jay Cross River (153 points) upset defending champion Saratoga Springs (154) for the team title.
