ELIZABETHTOWN -- Patrick Wells scored twice and Willsboro jumped out to a 3-0 lead before holding on for a 3-2 victory over Elizabethtown-Lewis in season-opening Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference Northern Division boys' soccer Friday afternoon.

Wells opened the scoring with a long shot near the end of the first half. Clay Sherman made it 2-0 on a breakaway 10 minutes into the second, and Wells netted his second goal in the 21st minute with an assist from Sherman.

Evan Drew put Elizabethtown-Lewis on the board a minute later, and Ben Goff brought the Lions to within a goal.

Justin Drinkwine had nine saves for Willsboro, and Tyler Barton stopped three shots for Elizabethtown-Lewis.
