SARANAC -- Mallory Honan's goal with just 1:05 left in regulation Friday night lifted Northeastern Clinton to a 3-2 victory over Saranac in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls' soccer.

The Cougars trailed, 2-1, entering the second half.

But, Ashley Goyette knotted the score at 20:30 and Mallory Honan then decided it in the late going.

"They played the ball into the right corner of the box and we reacted slowly to it," said Saranac head coach Mary LoTemplio. "She (Honan) got to it first and sent a nice shot into the lower left corner.

"It was a good game, but it was a tough one to lose with a minute to go."

Kim Dragoon gave Northeastern Clinton the lead at 18:53 of the opening half.

But, the Chiefs rallied to take a 2-1 advantage when Megan Bowman scored at 21:24 and then Molly Bowen at the 27:57 mark.

Ayisha Loya made six saves in net for the Cougars and Elizabeth Tedford 11 for the Chiefs. NCCS held a 17-10 edge in shots on goal.

Defender Colleen Honan played a strong game for the Cougars and Katie McIntosh at midfield for the Chiefs.
