PLATTSBURGH -- Team Myers took the early lead and held off a late rally by Team Huntington to win 9-4 in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Senior Softball Game at Plattsburgh State Monday.

Team Myers took the early lead in the top of the first with an RBI single by Jessica Myers (Saranac). They pushed the lead to 3-0 in the top of the second with Kelsie Bradish (Beekmantown) roping a two-out, two-run double.

Then, in the fourth, Team Myers extended the lead to 6-0 as Kayleigh McGovern (Beekmantown) had an RBI single in the inning.

In the top of the fifth, the Myers team tacked on three more runs to give them a 9-0 cushion. Team Huntington battled back for two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Alix Oloctt (Ticonderoga) had an RBI in the bottom half of the inning.

Lorrielle Bombardier (NCCS) had a two-out triple in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored on a throwing error, but that is all the Huntington team could muster.

Myers, McGovern, and Juliann Mandy all had two hits during the game.

McGovern took the win for Team Myers, and Kaylee Sprague absorbed the loss for Team Huntington.
