TICONDEROGA -- Katie Karkoski got the better of Whitney Vincent in a great pitching duel as Ticonderoga edged AuSable Valley, 2-0, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls' softball Wednesday.
Karkoski struck out 13, walked one and allowed two hits. While Vincent fanned seven, did not walk anyone and surrendered six hits.
Anna Besson and Arielle Vilardo led the Sentinels with two hits each.
Jessica Meredith's single in the third and Karly Lincoln's hit in the sixth were the lone hits off Karkoski.
Ticonderoga (8-2, 8-0) scored a run in the second inning when Vilardo singled and scored on Morgan Jordan's base hit.
In the fourth, Besson singled, stole second and came across on Vilardo's RBI single.

SARANAC -- Carissa Fournia, Jessica Myers and Kayla Nason rapped out two hits each to lead the Chiefs (7-1) past the Hornets.
Saranac took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Kelli Jock struck out two, did not walk anyone and allowed four hits in getting the win. Losing pitcher Jen Menard fanned four, walked one and surrendered eight hits.
Menard had one of Plattsburgh's four hits -- a double. Hannah Emery added a base hit and RBI.

ELLENBURG -- Kayla Rabideau had a triple, two singles and an RBI as Northern Adirondack held on for the win.
Freshman Brittany Charland got the complete-game win for the Bobcats (4-4).
The Bobcats led, 8-2, after four innings, and then the Vikings scored five over the last three innings to make it close.
Emily Lashway had three hits and two RBI for Northern Adirondack, and Tia Hicks added two hits.
Kaylee Sprague struck out eight in a losing effort. Moriah's Casey Kolodzey had three hits, including a triple, and three RBI. Jen Tesar tripled and singled, and Liz Wallace chipped in two singles.

PLATTSBURGH -- Chelsea Preston accounted for four hits, including a double, to lead the Blue Bombers over the Knights.
Ashley Riley and Carolyn Valentine added three hits each for Lake Placid.
Brae Blair struck out eight over the first four innings to get the win, and Julia Appleton finished up.
Samantha Mulcahy rapped out two of the five hits for Seton Catholic. The losing pitcher was Ashlee Fairchild.

SARANAC LAKE -- Mary Elizabeth Franke and winning pitcher Taylor Kelsey had doubles in a six-run second inning for Northeastern Clinton.
Franke wound up with three hits while Megan Bechard, Nichole Smith and Ayisha Loya each had two for the Cougars.
Sophomore Jenna DeMarco had two hits for Saranac Lake, and Lauren Burgess, Melissa Mercado, Maegan Meade and Samantha Fazioli each got a base hit.

PERU -- Kelsie Bradish had a big game at the plate with four hits, including a three-run homer, and six RBI to power the Eagles past the Indians.
Beth Trombley added two hits and three RBI for Beekmantown, which also took advantage of 15 walks issued by Peru pitching in the game.
Kayleigh McGovern went the distance for the pitching victory as she struck out eight, walked two and scattered six hits.
Megan Breton accounted for half of Peru's offense with three hits, including a triple. The losing pitcher was Kelly Kezar.
