Eagles fly high in CVAC track & field

SARANAC LAKE -- Brian Drollette broke a 19-year-old school record and Rosi Cummings turned in a stellar performance in the middle distances Tuesday to lead Beekmantown to a resounding sweep of Saranac Lake in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference track & field.
Drollette won the 100-meter dash in 10.9 seconds to better the Beekmantown mark of 11.0 set by Brent Deshaies in 1989.
Teammate Jeff Stitt also had a big day with four firsts, including the triple and high jumps. Brendan Courneene, Eric LaValley, Josh Garren and Drollette all were triple winners for the Eagles.
Cummings won the 400 and 800 and anchored the 1,600-meter relay to victory to lead the Beekmantown girls. Bailey Weightman, Lita Fountain, Ikeyanna Hamlin and Korinne Stay were double winners.
Corinne Becker swept the dashes for Saranac Lake and Hannah Sporn won the long jump.

CLINTONVILLE -- Jesse Clark swept the throws while Jesse Berube and Jonathan Granger each took two firsts to lead the Ticonderoga boys to victory. Distance ace Lee Berube won the 3,200-meter run in 9:44.3 and came right back to run a 58.0-second split in the 1,600-meter relay.
Sophomore James Montefusco swept the dashes and ran a leg of the winning 1,600 relay for AuSable Valley. Classmates Austin Davis and Joe Lincoln also doubled for the Patriots.
First-year athlete Hannah O'Toole won the 100-meter hurdles, the long and triple jumps while Persephone Turetsky and Brittany Woodring also took three firsts to lead the AuSable Valley girls to victory.

PLATTSBURGH -- Plattsburgh High School bounced back from its season-opening defeat to sweep Northeastern Clinton in its home opener.
Ray Cintron swept the dashes and added a first in the 1,600-meter relay while Ethan Crockett won the 800 to go with two relay firsts to lead the PHS boys. Declan Chaskey, Ryan Turgeon, Justin Lavarnway and Brandon Dunham all were double winners for the Hornets.
Caleb and Cody Hampton swept the throws for the Cougars.
Amanda Maynard won the long, triple and high jumps to pace the PHS girls to victory. Monique Arvisais-Anhalt and Laure Oudraogo also were triple winners for the Hornets while Simone Arvisais-Anhalt, Bailey Rabideau and Avery Vilbert were double winners.
Molly Roush won the 100 and 800 for Northeastern Clinton while the Honan sisters -- Colleen and Mallory -- captured the hurdles events.

PLATTSBURGH -- Jeongho Eom won the 400, long jump and high jump to lead the Seton Catholic boys to victory while Mary Kate Champagne claimed four firsts and Alexa Cosgro, three, for the Seton Catholic girls.
Brett Waling, Zach Ziemer, Seth Bombard, Michael Champagne, C.J. Choi, Jacob Relation and Greg Perry all had two firsts for the boys with Demi Pellerin and Sasha Fisher doubling for the Seton girls.
Heidi Baumbach won the 1,500 and 3,000 meters for Lake Placid and Patrick Stewart the 1,600.

SARANAC -- Ben Depo, Nate Williams and Kristie Pageau had four wins apiece to lead Saranac past Peru.
Depo won both hurdles, and the long and triple jumps. Williams won 100, 200 and helped take two relays. Jason Pageau and Nate Turcotte were triple winners.
Kristie Pageau had firsts in the 400 hurdles, triple jump and 3,200 relay and tied for first in the high jump.
Peru's Micayla McGinn took firsts in the 1,600 relay, 800 and 1,500 and high jump.
