---- — POTTERSVILLE — Kaleb Snide’s goal midway through the second half Wednesday broke a 1-all tie and gave the Clinton Community College men’s soccer team a 2-1 win over Word of Life.

Cory Farley sent a ball over the top to Snide, who was moved up front. Snide went in one-on-one with keeper Zach Roselle, who got a piece of the ball but couldn’t keep it from the back of the net.

Andre Reiner gave Word of Life the lead in the first half. But Jordan Knight answered for the Cougars (11-5, 8-3) after taking a pass over the top from Akash Tarar and going in on a breakaway.

“We were playing on a small, wet field,” said Clinton coach Zac Eppler. “We possessed the ball more than they did and had more opportunities.

“Our plan was to play balls over them because of the defense they were playing and we were able to do so.”

The Cougars finished with a 22-4 shot advantage and Ethan Markwica made three saves in the Clinton nets. Roselle ended up with 18 stops for Word of Life.

“We got good play from Nick Rhino on defense, Ethan Markwica in goal, Akash Tarar in the midfield and Lawrence Montonaro up top,” said Eppler.

The Cougars host Jefferson Community College at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Field House Soccer Complex.
