PSU women rally for victory

of the night.

The junior from Point Pleasant, N.J., swooped in and wristed a shot past Manhattanville goaltender Mary Evans, for a shorthanded marker.

“We were able to finish off the first half of the season strong and the players feel good about themselves for an undefeated semester,” Houle said. “We played 60 minutes of determined hockey and they were on a mission as the underdog. It’s a credit to our kids for being resilient. I thought it was our best effort of the semester.”

Sydney Aveson fended off 14 shots in the contest. The win improves her record to 7-0-1 on the season. Evans, who was making her eighth start this season, accumulated 23 saves in the loss.

The Cardinals will take nearly a month off before facing rival Norwich University in a pivotal non-conference tilt at the Plattsburgh State Field House Jan. 6 at 4 p.m.
