ALBANY — Amanda Gadway earned a spot in the ECAC championships Saturday with her second-place finish in the hammer throw and a third-place showing in the discus at the Purple & Gold Last Chance track & field meet hosted by the University at Albany.
The junior from Malone reached 129 feet, 3 inches in the discus and 145-6 in the hammer throw to qualify for the 2014 ECAC Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships to be held this week at RPI.
Senior Katie Ehmann raced to a third-place finish in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:57.11 while freshman Lauren Perschetz came in sixth in 5:31.10. Neither time qualified
Ashley Gadway registered a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw (134-11) and placed sixth in the discus (112-07).
The two-day ECAC regional meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday before wrapping up on Friday morning at 10 a.m.
Men's team falls short
The men's 4 x 800-meter relay team just missed qualifying for the ECAC meet. Freshmen Louis Castellani and James Stewart teamed with Trevor Kent and John Hamilton to register a time of 8:09.16 seconds, with the cutoff time 8:09.
