Cardinal women draw St. Norbert

Green Bay suburb school to make debut in women's hockey tourney

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh State will host St. Norbert College in an NCAA Division III women’s hockey quarterfinal game Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Stafford Ice Arena.

The complete field for the NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament was released Monday and features three additional quarterfinal matchups —Middlebury at Norwich, Elmira at Bowdoin and Wis.-River Falls at Gustavus Adolphus. All four quarterfinal games will take place this weekend.

Tickets for the NCAA Quarterfinal contest will go on sale Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Field House Box Office. Tickets will be $6 for general admission and $3 for college students with a valid ID. The first 300 Plattsburgh State students who present a current Plattsburgh State student ID will be admitted for free.

The Cardinals come into the tournament fresh off their third Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West Title and boast a 25-0-2 record. Plattsburgh will be making its second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and ninth overall.

The Green Knights earned the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association’s automatic bid by defeating UW-River Falls, 3-2, in overtime to win the O’Brien Cup Playoffs championship. In just its third season of varsity women’s ice hockey, St. Norbert will be making its first NCAA Tournament appearance.
