CANTON — The upper-class tandem of Kelley Driscoll and Katie Ehmann helped lead the Plattsburgh State women’s cross country squad to a fourth-place finish at the Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational on the campus of St. Lawrence University on Saturday morning.

Due to their strong team performance, the Cardinals saw their total point tally reach 98. The University of Toronto took home the team championship by boasting four runners in the top ten and racking up just 34 team points. The Cardinals beat out the likes of LeMoyne, Clarkson and SUNY Potsdam during the North Country race.

Driscoll was the third student-athlete from a United States institution to cross the finish line by registering a time of 22:28.06 during the six-kilometer course. The Geneva, N.Y., product finished the race in fifth place. Replicating her finishing position from one week ago, the 13th-place Ehmann was clocked in a time of 23:24.45.

Junior Amanda Joskow (25:23.51) and freshman Lauren Perschetz (25:25.95) finished in 31st and 32nd place respectively. Sophomore Megan Schweizer just made it into the top 40 finishers with a time of 25:53.69.

With their five point-producing runners across the finish line, the Cardinals saw Morgan Deming (44th, 26:08.51) and Kristin Schlanzer (51st, 26:26.72) put forth good efforts near the middle of the pack.

Plattsburgh State will take part in the Connecticut College Invitational in Waterford, Conn., on Saturday, Oct. 19 with the women’s race scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
