SARATOGA — After taking a week off, senior Kelley Driscoll was back on the trails for the Plattsburgh State women’s cross country team, and her fifth-place individual finish helped the Cardinals take ninth place as a team at the Saratoga Cross Country Invitational on Friday morning.
Driscoll, who hails from Geneva, N.Y., traveled the five-kilometer course in a time of 17:57.1 while collecting five of the 247 Plattsburgh State team points. St. Lawrence took home the team title by picking up 48 points at the meet which was hosted by RPI.
The next closest Plattsburgh State finisher was Katie Ehmann who recorded a time of 19:16.8 which translated to a 41st-place finish. Joining their teammates among the top 100 finishers were junior Amanda Joskow (80th, 20:00.9) as well as sophomore Megan Schweizer (95th, 20:21.8).
Kristin Schnalzer proved to be the fifth-fastest Plattsburgh State runner of the day as the freshman was clocked in a 119th-place time of 21:05.7. Not far behind Schlanzer was fellow freshman Morgan Deming who captured a 121st-place finish by trekking over the five-kilometer course in 21:12.4.
Checking in at the later stages of the top 150 competitors were freshmen Tiffani Love (131st, 21:34.0) and Michelle Collins (148th, 22:18.2).
The tandem of Brianna Bessette (22:38.2) and Hilary Crannage (22:42.1) finished 153rd and 154th respectively. Rounding out the field of Plattsburgh State competitors were Kelsey McNally (159th, 22:58.6) and Brittany Greene (169th, 25:16.9).
Cardinals Men finish 12th
SARATOGA— Taking part of their first eight-kilometer race of the season, the Plattsburgh State men’s cross country team collected a 12th-place team finish at the Saratoga Cross Country Invitational hosted by RPI on Friday afternoon.
For the fourth week in a row, freshman Ethan Vinson set the pace for the rest of his teammates, finishing the lengthy course in a 37th-place time of 27:25.0. The Cardinals amassed some 287 team points during the afternoon meet. St. Lawrence took home the team championship by collecting just 27 points.
