NCCC men, women victorious against Word of Life

SARANAC LAKE — The North Country Community College men’s basketball team collected its seventh win in eight games in convincing fashion Tuesday.

Six players scored eight or more points as the Saints (16-12) rolled in an 89-44 defeat of Word of Life Bible Institute.

“It was Senior Night, so Michael Boyea, Matthew Gullotta, Nikola Cvetanovic, Ege Cinel, Srdjan Grcic and Donny Patraw were honored before the game,” North Country coach Chad LaDue said. “It was a nice way to send them off. Everyone got a chance to play, and it was a fun night.”

Cinel had a team-high 11 points, while Cvetanovic added 10 points. Patraw dished out four assists, and Sam Johns grabbed three steals.

Sixteen players recorded minutes for the Saints.

“We leave early (today) for SUNY Delhi,” LaDue said. “Delhi is ranked No. 5 in the country, so it won’t be such a big box score (today). We play at home against Herkimer County Community College Saturday. We’ll have our hands full the next two games, but we’ll be ready.”
