Cardinals earn historic first in lacrosse

Unbeaten PSU achieves its first national ranking in school's history

PERRY — The Plattsburgh State men’s lacrosse team cracked the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Top 20 for the first time in its 15-year history, landing at 19th in Monday’s poll.

With a 6-0 record, the Cardinals received 38 points after receiving votes the last two weeks. Plattsburgh State joins SUNY Cortland as the only two schools in the State University of New York Athletic Conference to be listed in the top 20.

Plattsburgh State will look to keep things rolling as a tough stretch of the schedule begins Wednesday. The Cardinals will play nationally-ranked No. 17 Connecticut College on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. before traveling to the University of Mary Washington, who is receiving votes in this week’s poll, for a non-conference game Saturday at noon.
