---- — ABA Golf Tournament raises $1,059

PLATTSBURGH — The Adirondack Builders Association hosted its annual Golf Tournament at the Barracks Golf Course Sept. 13.

Proceeds of $1,059 will benefit the ABA’s annual scholarship fund in memory of Brian G. Ladue.

The principal goal of the Adirondack Builders Association is to provide all members of the association with as many opportunities to expand their business and to provide services that promote professional training and development. It is composed of members that range from building and specialty contractors to suppliers and other related services such as banks and government agencies.

Hamilton receives final weekly award

CORTLAND — Matt Hamilton of the Plattsburgh State men’s soccer team has been named the final State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Week of the 2013 season.

Hamilton was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2013 SUNYAC men’s soccer tournament. The captain led Plattsburgh to its eighth conference title after victories at Oneonta and Cortland last week.

In the SUNYAC semifinals Wednesday, Hamilton scored the lone goal and led the team with three shots on goal in the 1-0 win to knock off top-seeded Oneonta, which secured the Cardinals a spot in the SUNYAC finals.

Hamilton and the Cardinals went on to defeat second-seeded Cortland on Saturday, 2-1, to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III men’s soccer tournament.

Playing in his final season for Plattsburgh, Hamilton leads the Cardinals with five game-winning goals and is second in team scoring with 18 points.

Peru Lions Club hosts 36th Turkey Trot Nov. 28

PERU — The Peru Lions Club will be hosting its 36th annual John P. Adams Memorial Turkey Trot Nov. 28.

Pre-register by going to perulionsclubnewyork.org. Click “Register for Events.” Select Turkey Trot and chose one of the registration or payment options.

Same-day registration starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Peru Intermediate School gym. To ensure a 9 a.m. start, registration will end at 8:15 a.m. sharp.

The one-mile fun run/walk begins at 8:45 a.m. and the 5K and 10K races shortly afterward.

Entry fee for 5K and 10K events is $15 if pre-registered online before 10 a.m. Nov. 25. Bib pickup and last minute pre-registration can be done at the Peru Intermediate gym from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 27. On the day of the event, the fee is $20.

The one-mile fun run/walk fee is $5. Trophies are awarded to male and female winners of the 5K and 10K races.

Ebonite Demo Day at North Bowl Lanes Dec. 1

PLATTSBURGH — An Ebonite International Demo Day will be held at North Bowl Lanes Dec. 1.

Squad times available are 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Those interested can test drive some of the new balls from Ebonite, Hammer, Track and Columbia 300.

There will be staff on hand to help participants pick out the ball that is right for them. The cost is $10.
