PLATTSBURGH — Ameri-Can North Sports Centre will be open for stick ‘n’ puck sessions Friday from 7:30-9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Public skating is Sunday from 4-5:15 p.m.
Big buck contest to be held
WEST PLATTSBURGH — American Legion Post 1619 is hosting a big buck contest with an entry date ending Friday, Oct. 19.

PSU hoops hosting Midnight Madness
PLATTSBURGH — The Cardinals will be hosting a midnight madness event to kick off the season on Oct. 19 at Memorial Hall.
The event will start at 9 p.m. with a meet and greet with both the men’s and women’s teams. There will be various basketball related contests including prizes.
There will also be a three point shootout between both teams, a slam-dunk contest by the men’s squad and a scrimmage by each team.
Head coaches Tom Curle and Cheryl Cole will be in attendance. The event is free and open to the public.
NCCC to host cross-country championships
LAKE PLACID — The MVCC Cross-Country Championships, hosted by North Country Community College, will be held Oct. 20 at the Craig Wood Golf Course. The women’s 5k race is at 11:30 a.m. and the men’s four-mile race at 12:30 p.m.
Competing will be North Country C.C., Herkimer Community College, Hudson Valley Community College, Mohawk Valley Community College, SUNY Delhi and Columbia-Greene Community College.
North Bowl Lanes to host Single Shootout
PLATTSBURGH — North Bowl Lanes will be hosting a Singles Shootout Sunday, Oct. 21. Qualifying shifts will be at noon and 2:15 p.m. There will be a $300 prize for first place, based on 50 entries. The top 15, or one in five entries will cash.
Entry fee is $35 with a $30 re-entry fee. The handicap is 80 percent of the difference in your average and 220, with a maximum of 32 pins per game. The highest 2011-2012 average, with a minimum of 21 games, will be used. The top 15 will qualify for match play, with the high qualifier earning a first-round bye.

101.3 ESPN to air college hockey radio show
COLCHESTER, Vt. — 101.3 ESPN began airing its weekly college hockey radio show, College Hockey Overtime, Oct. 15.
The show will run from 7 to 8 p.m. every Monday with hosts Chris Villani and Ashley Chase of WCAX-TV. Focus will be paid toward Division III hockey in New York and Vermont with emphasis on Plattsburgh State, Middlebury, Castleton and Norwich hockey.
Guests include coaches and student-athletes from each team. Listeners can listen live on the radio or online at 1013ESPN.com with download option after airing.
Barracks fall season tournaments to start Sunday
PLATTSBURGH — The Barracks golf course will start its fall season of tournaments this Sunday.
The tournament is a two man best ball tournament with full handicap. Seniors over 65 may play from the senior tees, providing that is where their handicap has been established.
Tournament starts at 9:30 a.m. with a mini shotgun start. Cost is $25 per man and includes skins. Cost for non-members is $25 for greens fee and cart.

Registration open for youth volleyball instructional camp
PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department is currently accepting registration forms for its four-week volleyball instructional program.
The program runs for four Saturdays beginning Oct. 20 through Nov. 10 at Morrisonville Elementary School from 2 to 4 p.m.
Participants must be between 8 and 12 years old. Parents can register their children by completing a form at the Town Offices on Banker Road by Oct. 17. Forms may also be submitted by mail.
