Plattsburgh track and field announces schedule changes
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State outdoor track and field teams have announced another pair of schedule changes due to the latest round of winter weather.
The Cardinals will no longer be competing at the Catamount Open at the University of Vermont Saturday. That meet has been canceled because of poor track conditions.
Instead, members of the Cardinals’ track and field squads will compete at two different meets this weekend. Some student-athletes will head to the University of Rochester to take part in the UR Alumni Invitational. That meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at Fauver Stadium Saturday.
Other Plattsburgh team members will travel to Princeton University to compete at the Sam Howell Invitational. The two-day meet will begin Friday at Weaver Stadium.

28th annual Montcalm Mile set for July 4
TICONDEROGA — The Montcalm Mile, known for its fast course, hopes to become even faster this summer.
The 28th annual one mile road race, held July 4 just prior to Ticonderoga’s Best Fourth in the North parade, will offer prize money this year in an effort to attract another top field of competitors.
With a men’s course record of three minutes and 54 seconds, the Montcalm Mile is believed to be the fastest mile anywhere in New York and Vermont, outside New York City.
The Montcalm Mile will feature two divisions — elite for men who run a sub-six-minute mile and women who run sub-seven along with a recreational division for other runners.
The elite division will offer $2,300 in prize money. The men’s and women’s winners will receive $500, second place $300, third $200, fourth $100 and fifth $50.
