AuSable Valley Fun Run/Walk results

CLINTONVILLE — The Fun Run/Walk series at AuSable Valley Central School will continue Aug. 5 and conclude Aug. 12.

Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the first race set for 6 p.m.

Health Clearance Dates

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh City School District will be having fall sports clearance dates in August.

All student-athletes participating must attend the allotted time slot. This is a mandatory review for every student to be officially cleared prior to the first practice.

Please bring in an updated, current physical exam from your family doctor. Also, Epi-Pens and Inhalers must be present as well.

Fall Classic League now forming

PLATTSBURGH — The Wednesday night Classic Bowling League is now forming at North Bowl Lanes. This is a three-man scratch league. The combined entering averages can’t add up to more than 590. Whiteface Club Open Tennis Championships Aug. 10-11

LAKE PLACID — The 2013 Whiteface Club and Resort Tennis Center Open Tennis Championships will be held Aug. 10 and 11. Play will include men’s and ladies’ singles, men’s and ladies’ doubles and mixed doubles. Entry fees are $10 per person per event for WFC members and $15 per person per event for non-members. NYSEF Summer Benefit Aug. 10

LAKE PLACID — The New York Ski Educational Foundation (NYSEF) is hosting the 29th Annual Summer Benefit from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Turf & Field Club at the Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds. The organization is celebrating 40 years.

There will be international cuisine, cocktails, music and a silent auction. The event is open to ages 21 and older, and advance tickets may be purchased for $80 per person or $150 per couple at nysef.org. Tickets will also be available at the door. Run to Remember set for Aug. 17

PLATTSBURGH — The Fourth Annual Run to Remember in memory of Douglas Hoffman will be held Aug. 17 at the Plattsburgh Recreation Center on the Base Oval. Registration will be at 8 a.m. The Brain Buster Bustle will start at 9 a.m., and the 5k Run will be at 9:30 a.m.

The entry fee is $10 if paid before Aug. 14, and $15 if paid the day of the run. The Brain

Buster Bustle fee is $5. The first 25 individuals to register will receive a t-shirt. Funds will remain local to benefit the Alzheimer’s Disease Assistance Center.

PHS to host motivational presentation Sept. 3

PLATTSBURGH — All Plattsburgh High School coaches, athletes and families are welcome to attend a motivational presentation at 6 p.m. Sept. 3 in the PHS auditorium. William Harris will present “The Team Experience” to kick off the sports seasons.

Hamilton/Lamare win Zuckerman Invitational

PLATTSBURGH — The team of John Hamilton and Todd Lamare took first place at the Zuckerman Invitational recently held at The Barracks Golf Course. Matt Dion and Mickey Pepper placed second. Cliff Goff won the high-man-out award, Hamilton won the target award. And low gross went to Dion with a 79. The next event will be the Bud Pepper Open on Aug. 6.

NAC fall sports meeting Aug. 12

ELLENBURG — Northern Adirondack will conduct a fall sports meeting for all coaches, athletes and parents at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 12 in the High School cafeteria. Information regarding medical clearance will be updated with the school nurse, and there will also be distribution of schedules, practice start dates and times and a code of conduct review.

Footrace at the Falls Aug. 17

TICONDEROGA — The Footrace at the Falls, run in memory of Duane Crammond, will be held Aug. 17 in Ticonderoga’s Bicentennial Park. This is the second year the event, sponsored by the LaChute Road Runners Club, will be held downtown. It was run seven years at Fort Ticonderoga.

The 5K cross country run will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a free children’s race at 10:30 a.m. All children will receive a free certificate for an ice cream at the Wind Chill Factory. Parents must sign a waiver for each child running.

Registration for both races will be at the Ticonderoga Elks lodge at 5 Tower Avenue from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Restrooms and parking will be available at the Elks lodge.

Entry fee for the 5K race is $15 for students age 18 and younger, $20 for adults in advance and $22 for adults on race day. Checks can be made payable to the LaChute Road Runners. The first 100 runners to register will receive a t-shirt. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age group in the 5K.
