Bruno on All-Academic Team

PERU — Peru’s Hunter Bruno, a member of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference’s winter John J. Herbert All-Academic Team, is a CVPH Junior Volunteer and a recipient of the Principal’s Breakfast Award. Those activities were incorrectly named in Thursday’s paper.

Carper wins four events

PLATTSBURGH — Ashlee Carper recorded four first-place finishes as the Plattsburgh High girls defeated Ticonderoga in a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference track and field meet Wednesday. Carper turned in a height of 4 feet, 7 inches in the high jump and also took first in the 100 dash, 100 hurdles and 400 relay. Carper’s results were printed incorrectly in Thursday’s paper.

Boating safety class May 21, 23

PLATTSBURGH — A boating safety class will be held May 21 and 23 at the South Plattsburgh Fire Dept. station # 1, next door to NYSEG on Rt 22.

Class times are from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. each day.

Called “About Boating Safely”, the course is offered by Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15-8 of Plattsburgh.

Taking an About Boating Safely classroom course or one of the online boat safety courses adopted by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will satisfy New York state requirements for mandatory boater education.

The course includes a wide variety of information, including general information about boats and maintenance, information on preparing for safe and enjoyable outings, navigation rules, regulations and aids to navigation, guidelines for operating your boat or PWC safely, what to do in case of boating emergencies, and regulations you must follow for New York and Vermont waters.

This course satisfies the requirements for PWC operation and has been approved by the National Association of Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA).

Turkey Shoot set for Saturday

LAKE PLACID — The Second-Annual Turkey Shoot to benefit the Lake Placid Lodge #834 Scholarship Fund will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Register at 9 a.m. The shoot will be at the Lake Placid Fish and Game Club on Old Military Road.
