---- — Plattsburgh Lacrosse Club tournament today

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Lacrosse Club will be hosting a youth tournament today from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on five fields on the Old Base Oval. There will be 19 teams involved and there are divisions for grades 3 to 4 and 5 to 6.

This is the first-ever home tournament for the local lacrosse club, which has played in tournaments this season in Canton, Potsdam and Massena.

Jump Camp begins June 17

BEEKMANTOWN — Jump Camp begins Monday at Beekmantown High School for athletes entering grades 7 through12. The morning session is normally at 8 a.m., but for the first week only, the morning session is at 6:30 a.m. The evening session is at 6 p.m. The first workout will last two hours. Campers are asked to use the main entrance to the school on the Spellman Road and athletes can be dropped off next to the elementary playground. Rouses Point Summer Sizzle 5k June 29

ROUSES POINT — The Rouses Point Summer Sizzle 5K will be held at 8 a.m. on June 29. PLATTSBURGH — The team of Gary Stark, Gary Terry, Jim Wells and Butch Morgan finished in first place in seventh-annual Moose Lodge Golf Tournament. Matt Berry, John Clemons, Tom Webb and Kasey Kennedy placed second, while Mike Rock, Al Daniels, Billy Jo Leopard and John Burke were third.

Horseshoe tournament at Bobby’s Lounge

PLATTSBURGH — The first Tour De Force Horseshoe Tournament will be held at Bobby’s Lounge, 5028 South Catherine Street, Plattsburgh, on July 13.

The format will be two-person blind draw teams with double elimination. Sign-up begins at 10 a.m. with blind draw at 11 a.m.

The cost is $20 per person for early sign-up and $25 on the day of the tournament.

There will be prizes for first and second place, with plenty of raffle prizes and 50/50 drawing.

The event is to benefit the 2013 Tour De Force Memorial Bicycle Ride which honors the victims of 9/11 and raises funds for the families of police officers killed in the line of duty nationwide.

“Race 4 Care” 5K race set for July 20

SCHROON LAKE — The “Race 4 Care,” to benefit High Peaks Hospice & Palliative Care, will take place on July 20 in Scaroon Manor, 8728 US Rte. 9, Pottersville on Schroon Lake.

Race-day registration and sign-up begins at Scaroon Manor at 8 a.m. and the race will start at 9 a.m.. Pre-registration fee is $20 or $25 the day of the race. This is a timed 5K race for the serious runner, but all runners and walkers welcome.
