PLATTSBURGH — Brandon Darrah captured the Donut Dash 5k with a run of 20:26.

Darrah edged out Andrew Downs, who finished in 20:36.

Jessica Cartier was the top women’s finisher in a time of 23:27.

Registration ongoing for 5K Rutabaga Fun Run

WEDNESDAY — Adirondack Harvest has announced that registration is now open for the Annual 5K Rutabaga Fun Run on Sunday, September 23. The run is part of the Great Adirondack Rutabaga Festival in Keene.

The race is on flat terrain surrounding the Marcy Field area and begins at 9 a.m. Those interested can pre-register online at Active.com or download a registration form at www.adirondackharvest.com, or register starting at 8 a.m. on race day at the Holt House on Marcy Field.

A $15 fee includes t-shirt and refreshments. Awards will be given to the top finishers in many age groups. Following the race, there will be food and fun at the Rutabaga Festival. For more information, visit the website above or call 962-4810, ext. 404.

 

Jeffords Steel team wins golf tournament

PERU — The Jeffords Steel team of Larry Jeffords, Tom Raville, George Bouyea and Mike O’Connor combined for a 59 to win low gross honors at the 10th-Annual Plattsburgh YMCA/U First Credit Union Golf Tournament held August 10 at Adirondack Golf & Country Club.

Low net, with a 60 and winning in a tie-breaker over three other teams, went to the C & S Engineering team of Bob Butler, Jack Baroody, Chris Dubay and John Niles. Second place low net was won by the Racer’s Meadows Farm team of Alan Gibson, Pat Creel, Tom Lemieux and Jerry Deyo. Third went to the Glens Falls National Bank team of John VanNatten, Allen Racine, Ed Kehn and Michael Carpenter, fourth to the Liquor & Wine Warehouse team of Steve Carpenter, Carol Carpenter, Kim Titherington and Nadine Dergham, and fifth, with a 61, to the Primelink/Buck Supply team of David Bracale, Bob Wyand, Randy LaBombard and Denise Ryder.

Closest to the Y for the women went to Denise Ryder and for the men to Joe Constantine. Longest drive for the women was won by Pat Creel and for the men by Chris Dubay. Skins were won by the Glens Falls National team on the third hole, Jeffords Steel on the seventh hole and C & S Engineering on the 16th hole.

 

Adirondack ladies’ league announces results

PERU — Adirondack Golf & Country Club has announced the results of its 2012 Ladies League, which ran for 10 weeks of best-ball play, with the best seven weeks counting. The league culminated with an optional 9-hole tournament, followed by a BBQ cookout and award presentation.

Any women interested in the 2013 Ladies League can request that information can be sent to them by e-mailing the club at support@adirondackgolfclub.com or by calling the golf shop, at 643-8403. The Ladies League 2013 information will be sent/mailed in the spring.
