---- — Miners to practice Thursday

LYON MOUNTAIN — The Lyon Mountain Miners will hold a practice at 6 p.m. Thursday. Players should make every effort to attend.

Jay/Black Brook soccer sign-ups Thursday

JAY — Jay/Black Brook Youth Commission 2013 soccer registration will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Town of Jay Community Center. This program is open to children ages four and older residing in the towns of Black Brook, Jay, and Wilmington.

All participants are strongly encouraged to sign up by July 31. Registration forms are also available at the Town of Jay offices as well as the Town of Black Brook.

Tour de Rand Hill slated for July 20

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh YMCA’s 9th annual Tour de Rand Hill bike race will take place at 9 a.m. July 20.

It is a 14-mile uphill bike race starting at the YMCA and finishing at Camp Jericho. Proceeds go to programs and children’s camp scholarships.

Medals will be awarded to the first-place winners of each age group category. The overall top male and female winners will receive a trophy.

Entry forms are at the YMCA located on Oak Street. All entrants receive a t-shirt. Helmets are mandatory for the ride. For more information, call 561-4290.

Fast Feet Track Camp results

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Fast Feet Track Camp ended its 2013 session with an event at the Plattsburgh High School track July 12.

Thirty-eight campers ages 7-12 participated in six different events. All campers received ribbons and certificates.

Moriah in need of modified girls’ soccer coach

Bob Smith Memorial Golf Camp set

PLATTSBURGH — The family of Bob Smith will sponsor free golf lessons for children ages 10-16 at The Barracks Golf Course. Space is limited to the first 12 to sign up at the pro shop. The clinics will be held the last two weeks in July.

There will be a $25 deposit for each child enrolled in the program. This fee will be fully refunded to the child’s family provided the child attends all three sessions. For more information, contact The Barracks Pro Shop at 566-7150.

Amoriell,Duprey lead time trials

POINT AU ROCHE — Jason Amoriell turned out the fastest time of the night on July 10, finishing the 10-mile bicycle time trial in 24minutes, 51 seconds. Amoriell was followed Scott Woodward in 25:10 and Mary Duprey in 25:43. Duprey was the first female overall, followed by Sabine Amoriell (27:59) and Stella Brinker (35:32).

The time trials take place Wednesday nights at the Point au Roche firehouse on the Lakeshore Rd. The event is free and open to all novice and experienced riders, road bikes or mountain bikes. Helmets are mandatory, and all riders must obey the rules of the road. Sign up starts around 5:30 p.m. with the first rider going out at 6 p.m. There are two courses for riders to choose from: five or 10 miles.

BYC fall soccer registration open

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Youth Commission’s fall soccer program is still accepting new registrations until Aug. 5. Forms can be downloaded at townofbeekmantown.com/subpage.php?page_ID=15 or picked up at the Town Hall. Children not registered before this date will be placed on a waiting list.
