---- — Lennon returns to capture Fun Run 5k

CADYVILLE — A record 271 runners participated in the weekly fun run held at Cadyville Recreation Center July 10.

The one-quarter mile was won by Adrian Barnes in two minutes, 18 seconds. Zachary LaPier took the one-half mile in 4:00, while Donovan Hack (6:41) and Grant Moravec (6:42) both broke seven minutes to finish 1-2 in the mile.

In the 5k, former Peru standout and current Syracuse runner Dan Lennon led the way with a time of 17:13. Kelly Duffy-Coryer was the first female to finish in a time of 20:27.

The fun run series will continue July 17 at 6 p.m. at Cadyville Rec. Center. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and is free and open to all.

Campbell, Arnold win horseshoe tourney

PLATTSBURGH — The Tour De Force Horseshoe Tournament was held at Bobby’s Lounge on July 13. All money raised went to benefit the 2013 Tour De Force Memorial Bicycle Ride, which honors the victims of 9/11 and raises funds for the families of police officers killed in the line of duty nationwide. Brent Campbell and Glen Arnold took first place, followed by Carl Heath and Rick Hemingway. Brandon Bruce and Scott Bouyea placed third.

Plattsburgh State to host track & field series

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State track and field program, in collaboration with the City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department, will host the area’s first summer outdoor track and field series at the Plattsburgh State track. The first meet will be held on Tuesday, July 23, and the remaining two meets of the series will be held July 30 and Aug. 6.

Kids ages 5 to 12 are invited to compete in the 55-meter, 100-meter and 400-meter dashes, the long jump and the shot put. The meets are free of charge, and all competitors will register upon arrival. Each meet will begin at 5 p.m.

Powerlifting, Strong Person competitions to be held

MALONE — There will be a Powerlifting Competition at 10 a.m. Aug. 24. The competition will include push pull, bench press and dead lift. The registration fee is $20. Also, a Strong Person Competition will be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 17 at the Malone Ice Arena. The competition will consist of four tests of strength including the Tire Flip, Farmers Carry, Log Press and Ambulance Pull. Call the Malone YMCA at 483-2354 for more information on both events.
