Davis, Griffin qualify for NYS amateur event

MALONE — Ed Davis and Arthur Griffin qualified at the New York State amateur qualifier at the Malone Golf Club over the weekend.

Davis finished first with a 68, while Griffin took second with a 73. Graham Niles (74) and Nick Politi (75) rounded out the top four.

Davis and Griffin have qualified for states, which will be played July 21 through July 24 at the Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse.

Penders records hole-in-one

PLATTSBURGH — Jeff Penders scored a hole-in-one on the 12th hole at the Barracks Golf Course using a 5-iron.

Witnesses were Bill Benders and Dan Santa.

It was his second hole-in-one.

“Another 18 With Mike” tournament July 26

PLATTSBURGH — The annual “Another 18 With Mike” golf outing will be held at the Barracks Golf Course with tee times starting at 8 a.m. July 26.

The format is an 18-hole, four-person scramble with prizes given in the men’s, mixed and women’s divisions. There will also be prizes for men’s and women’s closest to the pin and a $20 skins game.

A raffle for Folds of Honor, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities to families of deceased and disabled veterans, will also be available.

The entry fee is $50 for members and $65 for non-members and includes golf, a cart, lunch and food provided by Pasquale’s Restaurant at the Green Room in Plattsburgh. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the awards presentation will follow at 6:45 p.m.

A maximum of 36 teams will be accepted. The registration deadline is July 15 and entry forms are available at the Barracks or can be downloaded at www.another18.com.

NAC fitness center closing for summer

ELLENBURG — The Northern Adirondack fitness center will be closing for the summer June 27.
