Dillan Fox selected as SUNYAC men’s hockey POTW
CORTLAND — Dillan Fox of the Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team has been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men’s hockey Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 3.
Fox earns the first weekly honors of the 2013-14 season after helping lead the Cardinals to a 3-0 win over Potsdam in the season opener Friday. The sophomore forward out of Hummelstown, Pa., had the primary assist on the game-winning, power-play goal just 41 seconds into the second period.
Fox gave Plattsburgh some breathing room in the third period with a power-play goal at the 4:23 mark. He also led the Cardinals with eight shots on goal.
Plattsburgh returns to action this weekend with a pair of conference games. The Cardinals host Geneseo Friday before closing out the weekend with a SUNYAC matchup against Brockport. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
Driscoll, Ehmann named to All-SUNYAC Teams
CORTLAND — After helping the Plattsburgh State women’s cross country team to a seventh-place finish at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Cross Country Championships, Kelley Driscoll and Katie Ehmann were each named to one of the three All-SUNYAC Teams.
Driscoll was named to the All-SUNYAC First Team, while Ehmann earned a spot on the All-SUNYAC Third Team.
Student-athletes who finished first through fifth place at the SUNYAC Cross Country Championships were named to the first team, while those finishing sixth through tenth earned a selection to the second team. Those in 11th through 15th place were placed on the third team.
Competing in her final league championship race, Driscoll recorded a fifth-place finish in a time of 22:14.6 to lead the way for the Cardinals. The Geneva, N.Y., product collected her second consecutive All-SUNYAC First Team award one year after being inducted into the SUNYAC Women’s Cross Country Hall of Fame.
