PYH 16U fall in Michigan

TROY, Mich. — The Plattsburgh Youth Hockey 16U Boys Midget hockey team wrapped up the preliminary round of the 2013 USA Hockey National Championship Tournament in Troy, Mich. with a 2-1 loss to the Toledo Cherokee team Friday.

Nate Foster delivered the goal for Plattsburgh, while Tucker Angelopoulos had a strong game in net.

Shamrocks stay perfect in championships

SAN JOSE, Calif. — The Vermont Shamrocks rolled into last night’s Tier II 16U Girls National Hockey Championship semifinals with a 5-1 victory over Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday.

The Shamrocks, who have a 4-0 record in the tournament, played host San Jose at 9:45 p.m. Western time Saturday night for the right to advance to the finals.

Chazy’s Cailee LaPorte scored one of the goals for the Shamrocks and Morrisonville’s Amy LoTemplio added an assist.

Booster Club meeting Monday

SARANAC — The Saranac Booster Club will be meeting Monday at 7 p.m. at the high school.

Rifle Range hours set

LEWIS — The Mt. Fay Fish and Game Club rifle range hours are 8 a.m. until dusk Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. until dusk on Sunday. The range is for members only and cannot be used during softball games or whenever the club house is open. If you are not a member and wish to use the rifle range, please contact an officer or member to obtain a yearly membership in order to use the range. We encourage everyone to respect our property rules and to be true conservationists.

CV Outdoors Club meeting Tuesdday

WEST CHAZY — The Champlain Valley Outdoors Club will be holding its monthly meeting Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. at the JCEO Building in West Chazy.

Boating safety course offered

PLATTSBURGH — As a service to the local boating community the Champlain Sail and Power Squadron, a unit of The United States Power Squadrons. the world’s oldest and largest boating safety education organization, is co-sponsoring, with the Center for Community and Workforce Development at Clinton Community College, Skywarn: What Boaters Should Know about Summer Weather Patterns on Lake Champlain.

The presentation by John Goff, Head Forecaster at the National Weather Service Office in Burlington, will be held in Room 105 of the Main Building at Clinton Community College on April 18th at 7 p.. The program, which is free and open to the public, will allow time for questions and refreshments will be served after the program.
