---- — Kramer snags lacrosse honors
CORTLAND — Joey Kramer of the Plattsburgh State men’s lacrosse team was named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) player of the week for the week ending March 3.
The senior attackman out of Lindenhurst, N.Y. tallied 12 points as the Cardinals opened the 2013 season with a 3-0 week. In the season opener at RPI, Kramer scored three goals and two assists in a 7-5 for Plattsburgh State. On Friday he netted three goals in a 16-6 win at Farmingdale State before closing off the weekend with a four-point afternoon in a 20-10 win against FDU-Florham on Sunday. Kramer finished the week with 13 shots on goal and leads the team with 12 ground balls.
The Cardinals, who are receiving votes in the latest USILA Division III Coaches Poll, host Norwich University in the home opener Wednesday afternoon. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at the Field House Lacrosse Complex.
PHS schedules awards night, meeting
PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh High School will hold its Winter Sports Awards night on March 18, at 7 p.m., in the high-school auditorium.
Also, the parent-coach meeting for spring sports will be held on March 25, at 7 p.m., in the PHS auditorium.
Trailgroomers to meet on Wednesday
REDFORD — The Trailgroomers Snowmobile Club will meet on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Big Daddy’s in Redford.

Lifeguard training classes set
PLATTSBURGH — The Department of Sport and Wellness is offering a non-credit Lifeguard Training course March 27–May 8. Wednesdays (7:00 - 10:00 p.m.) & Sundays (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.). No classes will be held Easter March 31 & April 3.
Candidates must register by March 22 . A pre-swim test will be given at the first class.

Visconti captures final NRA match
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Rod and Gun Club held its last in a series of four NRA Matches this past weekend with Peter Visconti of Champlain the match winner with a score of 790 out of 800.
James Cummings of St. Albans placed second with a score of 787, and Frank Richards of Mooers came in third with a 777.
The top Junior Shooter was Andrew Visconti who shot a score of 751 and placed fifth overall.
Visconti also won the prone match shooting a perfect score of 400 with 38 center shots, outshooting Cummings who also fired a 400 but with 35 center shots.

Dart tourney to support troops
PLATTSBURGH — A dart tournament to benefit area military service personnel will be held March 16 at the Moose Lodge, 90 Sharron Ave.
There will be a 100 percent payout with trophies. Entry fee is $7 with a non-perishable food item. There will also be raffles and 50-50 drawings.
