Buck Contest

winners announced

DANNEMORA — The Siberian Rod & Gun Club held its 2012 Buck Contest, below are the winners.

Clarence Duquette of Cadyville had the largest buck. Lee Plumadore of Saranac was the hidden weight winner. Matthew Munn of Morrisonville won the No Buck prize.

All proceeds from the contest are used to send area children to Camp Colby Environmental Summer Camp.

set for Monday

CHAZY — Chazy Youth Hockey will be holding its monthly meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. at Scotts’ Rink in Chazy.

Registration open for Cranberry Lake ice fishing derby

CRANBERRY LAKE — The 2013 Last Chance Cranberry Lake Ice Fishing Derby will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 2. The tournament, in its fourth year, is expected to attract more than 800 participants, and organizers strongly recommend early registration by mail.

Entry fees are $30 for adults and $10 for the children’s perch derby. Early registrations postmarked by Feb. 25 are eligible for a $250 prepaid VISA card.

Cash prizes will be award for first through fifth place for the children’s (12 and under) perch derby. Every child will receive a prize. In the adult category, up to $800 per hour in prize money will be award, and there will also be door prizes.

Visconti wins

NRA Rifle Match

PLATTSBURGH — Peter Visconti of Champlain finished first in an NRA .22 Prone Match and Four-Position Match last weekend at the Plattsburgh Rod and Gun Club.

Visconti outshot Jim Cummings of Jericho, Vt. 790 to 787 in the Four-Position Match and tied Norbert Yakey of Champlain at 400 in the Prone Match.
