---- — ‘Run for Red’ in Lake Placid Oct. 5
LAKE PLACID — The first ever ‘Run for the Red’ 5K event will be held in Lake Placid on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Registration is $25 and includes an event t-shirt. A 400-meter Fun Run for the kids will also be held with a registration fee of $5 and includes a Red Cross string bag.
To highlight ‘Fire Prevention Month’ an Emergency Services Expo for families will be held from 8-11 a.m. at the Olympic Skating Oval featuring local emergency service agencies.
Lake Placid Pub and Brewery will host their Oktoberfest event after the event and all runners are invited to attend. All proceeds benefit the North Country Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Stick ‘n’ puck, public skating times announced
PLATTSBURGH — The Ameri-Can North Sports Center has announced times for stick ‘n’ puck and public skating.
Stick ‘n’ puck will be held Friday from 5:30-7 p.m., while public skating will be available Sunday from 12:30-2 p.m.
Yakey time incorrect
WILMINGTON — Scott Yakey of Plattsburgh’s time for the Whiteface Uphill Footrace was incorrect in Wednesday’s edition of the Press-Republican.
Yakey completed the race in a time of 01:51:40.55.
Lacrosse clinic set for Saturday
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State men’s lacrosse team will be hosting a lacrosse skills clinic on Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Plattsburgh State Field House.
The clinic is open to all kids from beginners through the more experienced in grades 1-8.
There will be a lot of 1-on-1 training and is a great introduction to the sport of lacrosse for first timers, as well as for skill development for experienced players.
This is a free clinic and some equipment will be available to newcomers.
