---- — Ashley Marshall repeats in SUNYAC softball
CORTLAND — Ashley Marshall of the Plattsburgh State softball team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 24. This is the second-straight week Marshall has been honored by the conference.
Marshall appeared in eight games this week during the Cardinals’ trip to the National Training Center Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. The Malone native finished the week with a 3-2 record, allowing 21 hits and eight earned runs in 30 innings of work while racking up 45 strikeouts.
Her most dominant performance of the week came in a 1-0 win against Western New England University. Marshall tossed seven scoreless innings and gave up three hits while striking out 14 batters.
The Cardinals are scheduled to begin their SUNYAC schedule with a full slate of games this weekend. Plattsburgh State will travel to Geneseo for a Friday doubleheader at 3 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend with a doubleheader at Brockport Saturday at noon.
Baseball home opener postponed
PLATTSBURGH — Tuesday’s baseball doubleheader between the Plattsburgh State Cardinals and the Lyndon State Hornets has been postponed due to poor field conditions. A make-up date will be announced at a later date.
The Cardinals are scheduled to return to action on Friday when they host State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foe Cortland at 3 p.m. Be sure to keep an eye on GoCardinalSports.com for updates on weather-related schedule changes throughout the spring season.
Stick-puck, public skating sessions set
PLATTSBURGH — Ameri-Can North Sports Center will be open for stick-n-puck sessions Tuesday, from 4-5:15 p.m., and Friday, from 7:30-9 p.m.
In addition, there will be public skating on Friday, from 4:30-6 p.m.
The Center will be closed on Saturday and Sunday in observance of Easter weekend.
Malone t-ball, Little League sign-up April 4
MALONE — The Malone AmVets T-Ball & Little League program will hold a final registration on Thursday, April 4, from 4-6:30 p.m. at the AmVets clubhouse. The age group is from 4 to 9 years of age for boys and girls and the cost is $30.

Follett sweeps class in fishing derby
LYON MOUNTAIN — Jim Follett swept the top three places in the lake trout category in the Third-Annual Lyon Mountain Fishing Derby. Follett had catches of 8.4, 8.2 and 6 pounds.
Dan Legacy came in first in the Northern Pike competition with a 10.25-pounder. He also had the second-best catch of 9.8 pounds while Bill Nemier and Tom Bouyea tied for third at 9 pounds.
Pete Kowalowski, Jerry Haley and Matt Holmes tied for first in perch fishing with 8-ounce catches.
Ellenburg schedules youth sign-up
ELLENBURG — The Town of Ellenburg will hold registration for t-ball, baseball, softball, and summer learn-to-swim program on April 2 and 3, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., at the Ellenburg Town Hall.
