AYC holding bottle drive, car wash June 1

ALTONA — The Altona Youth Commission will be holding a bottle drive and car wash on June 1.

The event will be held at the Altona Fire Department and will run from 9 a.m.-noon. The proceeds from this event will be used to take the kids in Altona that participate in town sports to a Vermont Lake Monsters game.

Little Indians holding baseball tryouts

PERU — The Peru Little Indians U12 and U10 baseball travel teams will be holding tryouts June 2-3 at Laphams Mills Park from 6-7:30 p.m. each day.

Players age as of May 1 will determine team eligibility. Questions, call Matt Crowley at 335-9186.

Stick ‘n’ puck, public skate times announced

PLATTSBURGH — Ameri-Can North Sports Center has announced dates and times for stick ‘n’ puck and public skate.

Stick ‘n’ puck will be available May 31 from 5:30-7 p.m. and June 2 from 3:30-5 p.m. Public skate is available from 2-3:30 p.m. on June 2.

PHS awards banquet set for June 11

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh High School’s Senior Sports Awards Banquet will be held June 11 at 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge.

Boire named scholar athlete

PLATTSBURGH — Carissa Boire, a Plattsburgh graduate and current biology major, has been named a CRCA National Scholar Athlete at William Smith College.

Boire, and nine of her rowing teammates were honored. To garner the distinction, student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5, must have completed one academic year, and must compete in a varsity boat in at least 75 percent of the spring’s races.

Roberts, Ashline win Memorial Day Shootout

ROUSES POINT — Cody Roberts captured the First Memorial Day Shootout held at North Country Golf Club in a playoff.

Roberts, Steve Moffit and Steven Labombard each shot a 74 to force a three-way sudden death.

Labombard was eliminated on the first playoff hole, with Roberts capturing the win with a par on the third playoff hole.

Kathy Ashline outlasted Kathy Barcomb to captured the win in the ladies’ bracket. Ashline shot an 82, with Barcomb finishing with an 85.
