PLATTSBURGH — The Class B quarterfinal baseball game between Plattsburgh and Northeastern Clinton has been postponed and will be made up Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Northeastern Clinton.

The Class B quarterfinal softball game between Plattsburgh and Northeastern Clinton has also been postponed and will be made up Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Plattsburgh.

The Class D quarterfinal baseball game between Elizabethtown-Lewis and Lake Placid will be played Monday at 4:30 p.m. in Lake Placid.

The Class D quarterfinal baseball game between Wells and Moriah will be played today at 11 a.m. in Wells.

The tennis state qualifiers have been moved from Friday-Saturday to Saturday-Sunday. If the rain does not hold out, it will be pushed again to Sunday-Monday.

Aguglia, Verseput in rugby’s national title game

BEEKMANTOWN — Beekmantown and Plattsburgh State graduate Stephen Aguglia is currently captain of the Saratoga Stampede men’s rugby team and will be playing for the national title in Glendale, Colo June 1-2.

Seton Catholic graduate Jimmy Verseput will also be a participant in the game for the Stampede.

The Stampede qualified by winning the Division III playoffs last weekend. The title game will be televised on USA Rugby Network.

Bluff Point has Tuesday night men’s league openings

PLATTSBURGH — The Tuesday night men’s league, at Bluff Point, still has some openings. There will be an informational/sign-up meeting Tuesday, May 27, at 5 p.m. Each attendee will receive a complimentary round of golf following the meeting. This is your chance to join the league, and play a free round. League play begins June 4, and League dues are only $65.

Seton Catholic basketball camp lists boys’ first session

PLATTSBURGH — Seton Catholic will be holding the first week of its FUNdaMENTAL Boys’ Basketball Camp from June 24 to 28. Prices will remain the same as last year. The cost for new campers is $130 for one week and $110 for returning campers.

Coaches will include Chris Castine, Ryan Loucy, Mike Castine and Gary Castine.

Camps will again be available for students entering grades four to 12 and will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with doors opening at 8:15 a.m. Campers will receive a basketball, t-shirt and camp evaluation.

North Country Baseball Camp offering two sessions

MORRISONVILLE — There will be two sessions of the North Country Baseball Camp this summer.

The South Acres Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 24 to 28. The cost is $105 with various discounts available.

The Peru Camp will be held July 8 to 12 at Laphams Mills Park. That camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

Willsboro Golf Club starting summer tournament

WILLSBORO — The Willsboro Golf Club will be hosting a handicapped, double-elimination tournament with one match per week for the duration of the summer starting June 24.

The tournament is open to anyone with a valid GHIN handicap and the entry fee is $25 — nonmembers will have to pay green fees for each match they play.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers and the tournament is limited to the first 16 entrants.

CVAP holding sessions starting June 24

PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Valley Athletic Performance Camp at the City Rec Center (Oval) is scheduled to run from June 24-Aug. 1.

Formerly known as J&B’s sports performance, two of the areas Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists are running an athletic performance camp for proper development of speed dynamics, plyometric training, core stability, agility performance and proper lifting techniques, including power style lifts.

CVAP is offering a two-hour group session for four-days per week over the course of six weeks. Camp is held from 8-10 a.m. Monday-Thursday.

Mike Mannix-Hannah’s Hope Tournament set for June 30

PERU — The 6th Annual Mike Mannix Memorial-Hannah’s Hope Tournament will be held June 30 at 8 a.m. at Adirondack Golf and Country Club.

It will be an 18-hole tournament with a four-person scramble.

It’s great fun with nine innovation holes named “Shenanigans Big Break” and nine holes of a traditional scramble.

Entrée fee remains $65 for non-members and $50 for members and will include food, soda and prizes.

All proceeds go to Hannah’s Hope Fund to raise money for research for Giant Axonal Neuropathy, an untreatable and incurable disease.

Chazy soccer camp July 8-12

CHAZY — The Chazy Summer Soccer Camp will be held from July 8-12 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Chazy Central Rural School rain or shine.

Hospice golf tournament slated for July 13

ROUSES POINT — The 18th-Annual Hospice of the North Country Golf Tournament — formerly the Clinton County/Carol Wallett Memorial Golf Tournament — will be held Saturday, July 13, at the North Country Golf Club. It will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

The format is as follows: four-person handicap scramble, men’s and women’s divisions, maximum handicaps (men-24, women-36).

Entry fee includes greens fees, golf cart, prizes, gift bag and a barbecue lunch to follow tournament play.

Fees are $75 per player for non-members and $55 per player for member.

AUSABLE VALLEY— The AuSable Forts Fire Department is hosting its 23 annual softball tournament July 19, 20 and 21. Crab Island Memorial Golf Tournament July 20

PLATTSBURGH — The 9th Annual Crab Island Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by The American Legion Post 1619 and Michelob Ultra, will be held July 20 at the Barracks Golf Course.

There will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start. All Proceeds will go to a full scholarship to Clinton Community College.

Registration forms have been mailed to last year’s team captains.

The deadline for the before-mentioned registration and money is June 20.

After June 20, the tournament will be open to the public. A waiting list is welcomed.

Burns lands spot on ABCA/Rawlings All-New York Region Third Team

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Thanks to his stellar efforts on the mound for the Plattsburgh State baseball team in 2013, senior right-hander Brian Burns earned a spot on the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-New York Region Third Team.

Burns, who received a nod to the All-SUNYAC Second Team earlier this month, put together one of the league’s best seasons in his farewell collegiate campaign. The native of Ellenville boasted a record of 6-3 in 2013 and owned an earned run average of just 2.03 – the second-lowest figure in the SUNYAC.

Shaughnessy granted NCAA postgraduate scholarship
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Pat Shaughnessy, who was a member of the Plattsburgh State men’s soccer and baseball teams, has been granted an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship — an award given three times a year to student-athletes who exhibit academic and athletic excellence.
Shaughnessy is one of 58 NCAA 2012-13 fall sports postgraduate scholarship winners, with 29 male and 29 female student-athletes each receiving $7,500.
Shaughnessy will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education and a minor in coaching.
To qualify, student-athletes must excel academically and athletically, be in or have just completed their final year of eligibility and plan to pursue graduate study. Student-athletes must also maintain at least a 3.2 grade-point average and be nominated by their institution’s faculty athletics representative.

PLATTSBURGH — The annual Local Hershey Track and Field Games for Youth, presented by the Clinton County Youth Bureau, attracted 37 boys’ and girls’ to the Plattsburgh High School Track and Field Complex.
Many of them will advance to compete at the Hershey New York State West Track and Field Finals at Ilion High School June 29.

Winners announced in local fun run
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Recreation Department’s Spring Fun Run Series continued on Monday at the recreation department.
Due to the large number of young runners, there were two heats in the one-quarter mile, with Reileigh Johnson winning the first and Sebastian Bonnabesse the second.
Nora Graves won the one-half mile in 3:20, followed by Ethan Mulholland in 3:29.
In the mile race, winner Grant Moravec and runner-up Andrew Fullmer both ran under seven minutes in 6:20 and 6:59, respectively.
The next fun run will take place on June 3, with registration at 4:45 p.m. The runs are free and open to all area youth.
