County Youth Bureau seeks basketball officials

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau basketball program is in need of referees for its upcoming third and fourth grade and fifth and sixth grade programs, which run Jan. 4 through Feb. 22.

Also, the program seeks officials for its seventh and eight grade program, which runs from March 1 through March 22.

General knowledge of the rules, playing experience and experience working with children is desired. The pay is $18 to $20 per game. Referees will be hired to officiate games at the third through eighth grade level.

Applicants must be 14 years old and must attend one Part 1 and one Part 2 clinic.

Applicants must bring all of the following: Working papers (if applicant is a minor), social security card or birth certificate and picture identification (driver’s license or school report card). All applicants must know their social security number.

All coordinators and youth coaches are encouraged to recruit potential basketball referees to attend and ask questions regarding rules and learn more about officiating basketball. For further information, contact the Youth Bureau at 565-4750.

Dec. 19, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Old Courthouse Building (Second Floor). Dec. 23, 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., Old Courthouse Building (Second Floor). Dec. 30, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Old Courthouse Building (Second Floor).

Part 2 Clinic Schedule

Jan. 2, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Morrisonville Elementary School. Jan. 3, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Morrisonville Elementary School.

Adult, Junior Rough Riders Rifle Team prepares for season

PLATTSBURGH — The Rough Riders Rifle Team has began its countdown to the upcoming target rifle season.

Competition in the Vermont Winter Postal League, consisting of 17 teams, will start in just four weeks.

The team practices and has all of its matches at the Plattsburgh Rod and Gun Club. Team members practice once a week on any day the club is open for rifle shooting, which are Monday and Tuesday at 6 p.m. and Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
