Indoor range open Saturday

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Rod & Gun Club will open on Feb. 22 from 1-3 p.m. for public shooting.

Equipment will be provided, including rifles, along with instruction provided at no charge. Attendees must pay the normal daily range fee.

14th annual Chamber Ski Day March 6

LAKE PLACID — The 14th annual Chamber Ski Day will be hosted by Westelcom, Whiteface Mountain, and The Conference Center Lake Placid and be held on March 6 at Whiteface Mountain.

If you are new to the sport, you may purchase a “Learn to ski or board” package which includes equipment rental, a half-mountain ski pass, and a lesson for only $71.

Viking Ski & Cycle is also offering equipment rentals for $10 for the event.

Tickets for the event are $36 if reservations are made before Feb. 28 and will be increased by $10 after that date.

All tickets must be purchased through the North Country Chamber of Commerce by March 4. Tickets will not be available after March 4.

Following the event at 4 p.m. will be the Aprés Ski Party in the Cloudspin Lounge.

Local skaters pass USFSA test

PLATTSBURGH — Local skaters from The Skating Club of the Adirondacks passed United States Figure Skating Association tests administered by certified judges on Feb. 17.

The skaters were required to perform specific maneuvers to a national standard of proficiency for each level.

The following skaters passed tests: Ella Messner, intermediate free skating; Bryanna Garrand, novice moves in the field; Rheanna Meir, juvenile moves in the field; Saana Teittinen-Gordon, pre-juvenile moves in the field; Stephanie Theobald, adult silver moves in the field; Allyson Duprey, preliminary free skating; Jack Crotty, pre-preliminary moves in the field, pre-preliminary free skating; Aili Teittinen-Gordon, pre-preliminary moves in the field; Paige Cole, pre-preliminary free skating.
