Aveson featured in Faces in the Crowd

PLATTSBURGH— Sydney Aveson of the Plattsburgh State women’s hockey team has been selected as one of six amateur athletes featured in the Feb. 10 issue of Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd.

The Cardinals’ senior goaltender boasts a 15-1-1 record this season and a Division III- best 0.41 goals-against average. The West Covina, Calif. native has allowed just seven goals on 324 shots and holds a .978 save percentage this season.

Aveson became the all-time program leader in shutouts earlier this year and currently boasts 28 career shutouts, giving her more than any other Division III men’s or woman’s goaltender.

Aveson is a two-time First-Team All-American and has been named the ECAC West Goaltender of the Year twice. The Feb. 10 Sports Illustrated issue is on newsstands now, or the feature can be viewed at si.com/faces.
