---- — CVAC games rescheduled for Wednesday
PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Exceptional Senior Games, scheduled for this evening, have been postponed one day due to the impending snowstorm.
The games will be played Wednesday at Seton Catholic with the girls’ basketball game at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m. All-star selections will be announced between games and there will be a 3-point shooting contest and slam-dunk contest
Ashley Marshall earns SUNYAC honors
CORTLAND — Ashley Marshall of the Plattsburgh State softball team has been named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 17.
Through the first three games of Plattsburgh State’s season, Marshall has picked up right where she left off in 2012 with a pair of wins in three appearances. The Malone, N.Y. native did not surrender a run and picked up a combined 25 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings.
In a 4-1 win against Ramapo, Marshall allowed four hits and struck out 13 batters in five innings of work. She stepped in for 4 1/3 innings of relief work against Keene State, holding the Owls scoreless and racking up six strikeouts. In another 4-1 victory on Sunday against Babson, Marshall held the Beavers to just one hit in four innings while striking out six.
The Cardinals are in Clermont, Fla. for the remainder of the week at the NTC Spring Games.
ORDA meeting postponed one week
LAKE PLACID — Due to the anticipated inclement weather, The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) board meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed to Tuesday, March 26.
Area girls assist in region title run
AUGUSTA, Me. — The Vermont Shamrocks, with the aid of two local players, won the USA Hockey Tier II New England Region girls U16 championship this past weekend, qualifying for the USA Hockey National Championships.
The Shamrocks defeated the Connecticut Polar Bears 6-2; Maine 10-0 and Connecticut Mid-Fairfield Starts 7-3 in round-robin play to earn the top seed in the playoffs.
In the semifinal, the Shamrocks beat Mid-Fairfield in a rematch, 3-0, then captured the title by beating the New Hampshire Cyclones 3-0 in the final.
Cailee LaPorte (Chazy) and Amy LoTemplio (Morrisonville) both played a strong tournament on defense for Vermont. LaPorte scored a goal in the round-robin and LoTemplio notched one in the semi-final.
The Shamrock will play for the national title in San Jose, Calif. April 3 to 7.
Rod, gun club lists schedule changes
PLATTSBURGH — Due to the expected snow storm, the Plattsburgh Rod & Gun Club will not open on Tuesday.
However, the range will be open on Wed at 7:30 p.m. for pistol, Thursday 6pm for rifle, Friday 7:30 p.m. for Pistol, and Saturday, from 2-4 p.m. for Rifle.
The club will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m.
