Dog-walkers urged to avoid XC course


PLATTSBURGH — The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Cross-Country Championships will be held all day Saturday at Plattsburgh State.

Race officials ask that people who normally walk their dogs on the college cross-country course avoid using the area Friday and Saturday. Officials will be preparing the course Friday and the races will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. They thank you for your cooperation.

Soccer tournament schedules set


PLATTSBURGH — The regional soccer schedule for this weekend involving area teams has been complete. The games, sites and times are as follows:

Friday

at Stillwater

6 p.m. — Class B girls quarterfinal PHS vs. Mechanicville

Saturday

at Plattsburgh High School

2 p.m. — Class C girls quarterfinal Seton Catholic vs. Cambridge/Fort Plain

4 p.m. — Class D girls quarterfinal Chazy vs. Chateaugay

6 p.m. — Class D boys quarterfinal Chazy vs. Harrisville

At Queensbury High School

Noon — Class C boys quarterfinal NAC vs. Waterford (Field 1)

1 p.m. — Class B boys quarterfinal PHS vs. Broadalbin-Perth (Field 2)

YMCA hoops registration under way


PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh YMCA Youth Basketball Program has begun registration, which will last until Tuesday, Dec. 2. It is an 8-week program for boys and girls grades 1-4 with two divisions: 1st & 2nd grades and 3rd & 4th grades.

The program will start the week of Dec. 7 with practices/scrimmages after school (4:30 p.m.) and/or Saturdays. There will be two practices/scrimmages per week.

The program is open to all communities. All participants receive their own YMCA basketball, T-shirt uniform and award. Lower baskets are used for this instructional, fun program. Volunteer coaches needed. Call or drop by the YMCA for a registration form or download from www.plattsburghymca.com. For more information call at 561-4290.

Youth hoops registration Nov. 16, 18


SARANAC — The Town of Saranac will hold registration Nov. 16 and 18 at the Saranac Town Hall for any children in grades 1-6 who want to play basketball. Registration will be at 6:30-8 p.m. both days. Coaches are needed for these teams: first and second grade co-ed, third and fourth grade girls, fifth and sixth grade boys. A Youth Commission meeting will be held prior to Monday's sign-ups, starting at 6 p.m.
